
Russell H. Kaschula
AREA SPECIALIST – SOUTHERN AFRICA
Russell H. Kaschula is Professor of African Language Studies, and holds the Chair of “Intellectualisation of African Languages, Multilingualism and Education” in the African Language Studies Section, School of Languages & Literatures, Rhodes University.
His areas of expertise are not limited to the field of African languages and linguistics, including Applied Language Studies and Sociolinguistics, as he is also a registered Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. He has an extensive list of degrees including a BA degree, LLB, HDE, BA(Hons) (Cum Laude) and a PhD from Rhodes University.
After pursuing a career in African languages, he has had an extensive teaching career across five South African Universities and one American institution , Goucher College), before settling at Rhodes University. He is the author of 19 books, and numerous journal articles, book chapters, and newspaper commentaries.
