Marc V. Simon is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Coordinator of the Peace and Conflict Studies program at Bowling Green State University. He holds both a bachelor degree in Mathematics and a 1991 Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University. He was a Guest Professor at the Universität Salzburg (1998-1999 and 2007) and a Fulbright Scholar at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (2008).

His methodological skills include mathematical modeling, computer simulation, and game theory, which he has applied to the analysis of security, failing states, economic sanctions, and military intervention. His research examines war and political violence, nonviolence, and conflict resolution, economic sanctions, environmental policy.

He teaches courses on international relations, foreign policy, peace studies, and conflict resolution. He has published articles in International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, and the Journal of Peace Research.
